Random Tuesday Thoughts - Head Spinning Barf and Burning Trees

randomtuesday

Tuesday's are brought to you by Keely, the hostess with the mostest for Random Tuesday Thoughts. Be Random. If you dare.

Things have been a little discombobulated around here. Hovering hubby taking vacation time on a whim, then scheduling other days to burn his vacation time that 'expires' on June 30th...but then changing those days at the last minute to different days has really had my head spinning.

Yesterday poor little Travis got dropped off at the vet to have a little snip-snip done...he wasn't supposed to eat or drink after 11pm the night before - no problem, we made sure he didn't get into anything...but yesterday morning of course we had to let him outside to do his 'business'. So he drank his fill from the stream, and chowed down on some grass.

It wouldn't have been a huge deal, except that it was the first time he'd been in a car since we picked him up as a puppy. Luckily I had a towel on the seat - although it was a towel I had the Princess Nagger sleep with so it'd have her 'scent' on it so we could leave it with him at the vet in case he had to spend the night. He barfed all over it. Watery grassy barf. I kept getting the run down from the back seat from PN:

PN: "Ewwwww! Travis just barfed!"

Me: "He did? Where?"

PN: "Partly on my seat, on the towel and on his foot."

Me: "Did he get any on you?"

PN: "No, mostly on the towel and his foot!"

Me: "How much is on your seat?"

PN: "Not much, but he has some on his foot!"

Me: "No biggie, I'll wipe it off when we get there."

PN: "Ewwwwww! He just barfed again!! Lots of watery barf! And he must have ate some grass! Ewwwwww!"

Me (laughing): "Guess he wasn't paying attention to the no eating and drinking after 11:00 last night...but at least he's getting rid of it before we get there, so that should be good!"

PN: "Gross, Mama! He just did a really big barf - it's a watery barf and I don't think it's going to stay on the towel! And he still has barf on his foot!"

Luckily we were just about there - the barf did stay on the towel, and there was very little on PN's seat so all was good. Poor Travis. But the vet called about 4:00 to let me know that they hadn't gotten to any of the surgeries for that day and wanted to know if it was OK for him to stay...Princess Nagger was upset because she wanted him to come home now, but we want to make sure the neutering is done before we head to Louisiana and we were lucky to get an appointment as fast as we did. So he's still there. We're expecting a call sometime this morning to let us know he's ready to be picked up...and so we wait.

Hubby signed up for Facebook - he finally caved into the pressure from his friends and colleagues, so he's joined us on the other side. But that also means that now that I accepted his friend invite I'll probably have to be careful when I post about him....meh, not so much, maybe he'll learn a thing or two by actually reading my blog. Time will tell.

Every time I run the tractor around the Back 40 and catch this in my peripheral vision, I think there's someone standing there watching me:
It was a dead weeping willow - our neighbor kindly removed all the branches from it to use as firewood, then started randomly pouring flammables on it and lighting...so far this is what's left.

Good news! The friends we're going to be visiting in Louisiana finally joined the 21st Century and got broadband internet and iPhones - so we won't be cut off from the outside world after all! I won't have to suffer withdrawals and I'll be able to post while we're enjoying our time - I'm sure I'll have some funny blog fodder coming my way... ;) Of course I'll have to make sure I limit my online time because I don't want to be rude to our hosts. But it's nice to know I won't have to kick it cold turkey for two weeks.

One of these days I'm going to get caught up on my blog-hopping and commenting...it'll happen when you least expect it....then I won't know what to do with myself when I don't have 50 tabs open in my browser. I'm sure I'll think of something. ;)

Feeling Random? Then head on over to the Un-Mom for some awesome randomness. Give yourself a break today and join in the fun...find out if she's still feuding with Mr. Linky, and if she is, be sure to leave your post link in the comments so everyone can stop by for a random visit. I sure hope she's made nice with Mr. Linky, though, sure makes it easier to blog-hop and check out all the randomness - at least easier from a lazy don't-want-to-cut-and-paste standpoint that is. ;)

Very happy for PN that the dog barfed on the towel....Have a great Tuesday.

LMAO! at Hit 40 saying men are odd! A woman is taking a dog to get his nuts cut off and you say we are odd? LMFAO!!!! I would have probably puked also! HAHA! I bring such dignity to a blog, don't I?

Your play-by-play version of taking the dog to the vet is hysterical! At least it was Travis barfing, and not Princess Nagger.

LMAO on the doggie barf... I swear something like that could only happen to me. At least it stayed on the towel. Sounds like your looking forward to your vacation!

Our dog used to get car sick. I guess she cured herself somehow. I sure am glad because that is no fun for anyone.

Poor Travis, and poor PN! Watery grass barf?! Ewww. Hope that you have a great time in Louisiana! :)

Lovely....a dog puking story after I've spent my weekend with a stomach bug.

Anyone else one of those people (like me) that feels sympathetically ill for someone else while they are ill?

Your Princess handled the barf situation rather well!! She deserves a hand for that one! Mine would have been ranting-n-raving all over the place!!!

Hey at least you will still be connected to the outside world when your in LA. Poor Travis!
That is an odd looking stump, what was your neighbor thinking?
Great Randomness. Grats to the hubs for Facebooking!

OMG, doggie barf is so gross. Reason number 53 that I am NOT looking forward to getting a dog. They barf? Need surgery? Have periods? WTH?
OH and I totally have 50 tabs open right now. LOL!!!

Good luck for Travis and the sugery. It's hard to watch our pets go through that. Remember to enjoy your vacation. We all need a break once in a while.

How nice of your neighbor to create a creepy tree for you! Maybe he can come over at night and peek in the windows, too?

And doggie barf? Ewww. Nice of the Princess to narrate the scene for you. At least you didn't spend the ride wondering if he missed the towel or not!

my Hubby reads my blog whenever he can. He even wants to start his own. We'll see! Tell your hubby to start his own blog! would love to know what his reaction is!

My 3 yr old bassett/beagle mix ALWAYS barfs in the car. Drives me nuts. We started letting her sit in the trunk of the SUV so she wouldn't get it on the seats. Yuck!

my hubby doesn't read my blog either. but i like it that way

Ahhh. Love the dog barf. Love the kiddo commentary that goes along with it. Too much of that in my house for my liking. UUCK.

My DH joined FB finally...with much protest...and rarely uses it...and still doesn't read my blog. I'm safe. I'll bet you are to. Occassionally I have him "pre read" something just in case he actually goes there and what I'm writing might need a little "explaining"...heh heh heh.

Happy RTT!

Looks like icky things are happening at both of our houses today!

Internet and vacation? I can't think of anything better! Well, maybe a drink and a foot rub to go with it. Yeah.

I luv the "Hovering Hubby" part, I have one too, but he doesn't have a clue how to use the internet.

Hope the dog is ok!
Happy RTT & mine's posted too!

Poor pukey Travis. My dog puked all over my entire car on the way home from adopting her and several times since. I should have turned the car around.

That tree would scare me too.

My husband just joined Facebook last week too. Although I can't say I'm much into it to care. It was more me telling him to join since he'd probably be able to reconnect with a lot of his old friends, he was way more social in high school than I was.

Hope Travis recovers well. PN's barf play-by-play was hilarious. I wouldn't have been able to keep it together.

Jennifer said...

Aww, poor Travis! Way to keep it on the towel, though. And I think I'm like you... I have no less than four windows open with five tabs in each window. I'm not sure if that's multitasking or ADD, but I like it!

Melanie D said...

poor puppy, it seems your daughter was most upset at the barf on his foot!!! Hope you have a wonderful time in Louisiana!! BTW that tree is creepy

Cara said...

Ew ew ew, dog barf! I've been dealing with more than my fair share of dog crap on the carpets. Our new pup got here Saturday night. I've already run the carpet shampooer twice & it's calling my name right now.

And that tree? Would freak me out every time, too.

It is always fun coming to your blog and seeing what you are up to.

OMG I hear ya on the blog hopping and commenting ... so much going on! Good for you for riding the tractor.. used to do our lawn when I was a kid!

Patrice said...

ew! That puke thing was really gross! I would've freaked out & demanded the car be pulled over so I could escape from the puke (or possibly something less bratty, but whatevs!)
Thanks for stopping by my blog today, I love your name, it cracks me up & your blog too! I'll have to stop by again! :)

My hubby doesn't read my 'personal' blog either, only our family one, and even that's iffy... But he is a FaceBook addict!

I'd recommend keeping the dog in a crate in the car, that's what we do with our three because two of them always get car sick.

Martha in PA said...

I hope Travis is doing okay! I hate when they "barf" in the car (or worse... our Princess has done that too - talk about ewwwww!)

I'm glad you won't be "gone" for your entire vacation!

Funny, I cleaned up barf yesterday...I love the "if you dare"! HA!
