When attempting to do one of these Stepping Stone Kits...
Be sure to check for all the contents in order to make sure you have a happy Princess Nagger (especially since the last kit was missing the letter stamps...apparently I didn't learn the lesson the first time). In this case, the 'Free Patterns Included!' was absent, thereby negating the desire of said Princess Nagger to decorate the stone with a dragonfly:
Heed not the words of 'Amazingly Simple!' making note that the picture of the cement being stirred in a bucket is much harder to do than shown:
Particularly when the supplied stir stick breaks at the very beginning of the stirring process, and since you don't have any stand-by's (or any rulers that can be sacrificed), you're forced to stir with the short end of the stick and gain gooey cement under your fingernails:
When you are attempting to catch up on episodes of Burn Notice to free up some DVR space, be sure to pay close attention to when the Princess Nagger asks: "Is it OK to put some of the tiles sideways?" You say "Sure, do whatever you want - it's your stone to decorate." Only to look over a few minutes later to see she's creating a Torture Stepping Stone, and while you're laughing hysterically trying to take pictures of this unique device, she is not amused:
While the temptation is to leave it as is, you realize that it would not be able to be placed in any of the flower beds because of the imminent danger involved to any foot, big or small, or doggy feet (though if you could rig it to keep the neighbor's pit bull out of your yard, that would make it worthwhile):
So the Princess Nagger begrudgingly relocates the sharp edges, then proceeds to go overboard in the decorating, finishing with poking little holes all over with a toothpick because it's fun:Lessons Learned:
- Be prepared for the worst, and have extra supplies on hand just in case.
- Listen closely to any questions about a project.
- Keep your sense of humor at all times.
- Enjoy the wild stepping stone for years to come!
