Quotable Sunday - Mother Nature

Since Mother Nature has been messing with a lot of people the last year week, I thought it would be fun to do some quotes on Mother Nature... enjoy!

“If the mortality rate seems high we must realize that Nature is a ruthless teacher. There are no second chances in Mother Nature's Survival Course.”
William S. Burroughs

“Every girl should use what Mother Nature gave her before Father Time takes it away.”
Dr. Laurence J. Peter

“Mother Nature clearly intended for us to get our food from the "patty" group, which includes hamburgers, fish sticks, and McNuggets- foods that have had all of their organs safely removed.”
Dave Barry

"Mother nature has a sense of humour with all the sophistication of a three year old who's gotten hold a garden hose."
Unknown

“Is this a time to be cloudy and sad,
When our mother Nature laughs around;
When even the deep blue heavens look glad,
And gladness breathes from the blossoming ground?”
William Cullen Bryant

MOTHER NATURE - Nature, the gentlest mother
BY
Emily Dickinson

    Nature, the gentlest mother,
    Impatient of no child,
    The feeblest or the waywardest, --
    Her admonition mild

    In forest and the hill
    By traveller is heard,
    Restraining rampant squirrel
    Or too impetuous bird.

    How fair her conversation,
    A summer afternoon, --
    Her household, her assembly;
    And when the sun goes down

    Her voice among the aisles
    Incites the timid prayer
    Of the minutest cricket,
    The most unworthy flower.

    When all the children sleep
    She turns as long away
    As will suffice to light her lamps;
    Then, bending from the sky

    With infinite affection
    And infiniter care,
    Her golden finger on her lip,
    Wills silence everywhere.

Mother nature can really be a bitch! Tsunamis and hurricanes are a testament to that!

Wonderful! Love, love, love Emily Dickenson! And this is hilarious: "Mother nature has a sense of humour with all the sophistication of a three year old who's gotten hold a garden hose."

I love this one:
"Mother nature has a sense of humor with all the sophistication of a three year old who's gotten hold a garden hose."

I love what Dr. Laurence J. Peter said. So true, only when we have it we think it will never go away so we don't appreciate it at that time. Live and learn sucks!

That Father Time is a jerk.

Great quotes, as always. My favorite quote of late is by Thoreau. He wrote, "Live the life you've always imagined." LOVE it.

The mother nature/father time quote makes me sad. Why can Hollywood males last forever on the big screen, but the women get passed over so quickly for a younger face.
