Today marks Day 4 of rain, rain, and more rain. It's a cold rain - the high's have only barely reached 40 during the day, so if I hadn't had to go out and run errands during these rainy days, they would have been the perfect kind to curl up in front of the fire and read. Of course in our area that also means intermittent power outages - sometimes they only last 5 minutes, but that's enough to knock out internet and elevate frustration.
So if you're wondering why I've seemed sort of scarce the last few days, you know why! Luckily tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny and 54, so it will be a welcome break in the dreary rain...and perfect time for catching up! Guess what kind of quotes I decided to find for Quotable Sunday this week? You guessed it - Rain... enjoy!
“Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make its colors appear.”
Wolfdyke
“Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.”
Unknown
“May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you and all your heart might desire.”
Irish Blessings
“The best thing one can do when it's raining is to let it rain.”
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“A poet is someone who stands outside in the rain hoping to be struck by lightning.”
James Dickey
“There will be a rain dance Friday night, weather permitting”
George Carlin
“It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.”
Dave Barry
“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.”
G. K. Chesterton
“We can never have enough of nature. We must be refreshed by the sight of inexhaustible vigor, vast and titanic features, the sea-coast with its wrecks, the wilderness with its living and its decaying trees, the thunder-cloud, and the rain.”
Henry David Thoreau
“Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.”
Roger Miller
“Those that dislike cats will be carried to the cemetery in the rain”
Dutch Proverb
“If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."
Jack Handy

Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.
That is so true. I love it.
Come out, come out, wherever you are....
That photo almost looks like a WARM rain! Hope your new week is drier :)
I love rain. I also like the new look to your blog. Have a great Sunday..
Let it rain.
Great quotes, like the Jack Handy!
Excellent photo of the rain.
A little rain is good and refreshing but not when it continues for days. Hope for a sunny day for you tomorrow.
It has been a cold wet (dah!) rain, but that wasn't enough, we went in search of SNOW!
I think this would have to be my favorite!
“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.”
G. K. Chesterton
I would love to curl up with a book, but I will be taking the kiddos to the movies!
I'm with blueviolet.. I am going to stop getting "wet"
Great quotes!
Too darned hot in So Cal. I wish it was raining.
It's been raining here alot and I usually love the rain. For some reason, I'm not ready for cold rain and darkness. Oh well, we always want what we don't have.
My husband is 90% Irish , so I picked this quote to be my favorite.
“May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you and all your heart might desire.”
lovin' the rain quotes!! send some of the wet stuff my way, i miss the rain :) How have you been girl?! miss ya
These are great. Everyone should dance in the rain now and then...although it's a bit less enjoyable when it's cold!
I prefer sunshine to rain any day but I do have the coziest memory of holding my baby wrapped in a blanket and looking outside at the pouring rain. We were so warm, dry and comfy.
some people walk in the rain, some just get wet...love that. hope the rain clears and your power stays on for a bit. happy sunday!
"No matter how you slice it, you feel like you are getting pissed on"- Otin LOL!
that was us last week. Now it appears the rain has moved on up to coast to you! hang in there
I love it! Great minds do think alike :) I thought 'rain' was a suitable topic for today. Have a great day and thanks for checking out my 'Quotable Sunday'.
Sorry to hear about your soggy week! Sounds like ours last week, hope to send you our sunshine for this week!
I love the quote:
“Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.”
That brought a smile to my face because it is so true!
Ah, I love those cool, rainy, dreary days. Although you're right... much better to be snuggled up under a blanket than out having to run errands in it!
Justine :o )
We're having that same rain ... and it is beginning to get a bit annoying. I'm all for a few days for rain but enough is enough! And I love that Jack Handy quote!
We rarely get rain=/ I'd love to curl up and watch it through the window!!!
My fav~
“And when it rains on your parade, look up rather than down. Without the rain, there would be no rainbow.”
G. K. Chesterton
We've had some nice weather these last few days... but it looks like another storm is brewing here in Northern California. Ahhh... here comes the rain!
not a lot of chances to think about quotes re: rain as it has rained a total of five or days this year. All the brown lawns are so gorgeous
We had the cold rain too - we got it in CT as a 'Noreaster - better as rain rather than snow! It won't be too far behind!
Enjoyed your quotes!
On top of rain today - we actually had some snow too- ugh.
I like the quote about raining on tents. That is funny. Nothing like camping in a tent in the rain.
I just want it to stop raining on football friday nights!!! Poor Austin playing his sax in the rain. And..
it can not be good for the instrument.
I thought I won't like these quotes because I don't like rain either. But they are all very nice. Personal fave is the first one though. :D Thanks for sharing!
